OC BRIAN LINDGREN:
ON CHEMISTRY: Lindgren thinks the team was able to build a good amount of chemistry through the summer and credits them with taking the initiative to practice when the coaches weren’t around.
ON THE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN: Lindgren says they’re throwing a lot at the offensive linemen to see what they can handle.
ON AIDAN CHILES: “Maturity is something we have challenged. He has taken steps." Says they are looking for more consistency. He mentions that he has not started a game yet.
Chiles has that swagger and moxie where players gravitate towards him, but he is still working on consistency.
ON BRENNAN PARCHEK: “We are just scratching the surface with him. His size and ability to move at that size. We have been around some pretty high draft picks, and he has the potential to be one of those guys."
They love Parachek's size and mobility and they could flex him out wide.
ON NATE CARTER: “He is super talented and has played a lot of ball. I am super excited about Nate.”
ON KAYRON LYNCH-ADAMS: He has shown a lot of flashes. He says he will earn first-team reps, and he is excited about that.
ON NICK MARSH: He says he's impressed with his maturity already. He says he’s strong and physical for his age, and they’ve moved him around a couple of different positions.
DC JOE ROSSI:
ON THE INTERIOR DEFENSIVE LINE: He says they went out to find guys who fit what they want to build in the program.
Says you have to be able to stop the run in the Big Ten:
“If you can’t stop the run in the Big Ten, you’re going to have a lot of problems.”
ON MSU ALUMNI: Rossi says he’s noticed that the MSU alumni takes more pride in the program than anywhere else he’s ever been.. says he’s really enjoyed seeing a lot of those guys around at Spartan Dawg Con and other Spartan events.
ON DEFENSIVE SCHEME: “We don’t have a set scheme; we have to evaluate and then do what fits the players the best.”
ON EVALUATING PLAYERS: Rossi says they are still in the process of evaluating players.
“The things we want to see on film is guys playing with extreme effort. Any good defense is going to have guys playing hard. There is an emphasis on toughness.”
