These are just a few of my observations.......I don't think it's time for people to get bent out of shape, it's a first game on the road and if were being honest Western had some play makers, they are not Eastern or school's like that........
Con's......
#1 - Missed tackles - over pursuit was the big problem, this can be fixed and I'm sure will be, guys have to trust the guys around them and stay in there lanes and do there jobs....
#2 - Cook throwing a low percentage fade routes quite often when receivers were not getting separation. Clearly he had price quite often in the seam but only thru to him a few times inside. Where are the crossing routes? The middle of the field? The deep balls? Again first game and I'm sure they didn't want to show to much and receivers getting there legs and reps played a roll....Where's Shelton? Guys have to get separation and Cook needs obviously be more accurate (yes, man lands on the moon).....
#3 - DB's ect.... - Copeland and Cox solid but the Con is the safety play and back-ups from there look overmatched at a lot of points in the game, maybe first game jitters, mayb a little nervous but it seemed if they were collectively tight or nervous to a degree, Coach will keep working there........
Players who need/have to be better IMHO - Nichelson, RJ Willaiamson, R. Bullough, Frey, Harris, back up DB's, Cook
Pro's.......
#1 - Running backs look good for the most part, Holmes started out looking like he was in quick sand but got it going after his first series.....where were the screens or pitches to the running backs or dump off passes? That can be a weapon but again I'm sure we were holding back....
#2 - front seven look pretty good with seven sacks and low rushing totals and theses beasts will only get better....saw big 72 looking good and Cooper played real well didn't really notice Sweat? Maybe he didn't play?
#3 - Copeland was my biggest surprise - young man looks like the real deal, again should only get better and could be a 3-4 year starter which would be awesome........I have really liked him and many others here as well.....
Players who played well IMHO - Reshke (nice to see), Defensive line across the board (however they did seam to get a little tired late instead of stronger) Copeland, RB's all 3, offensive line was pretty good as well....
Overall not a crisp game but maybe we found a good corner, punter was fine, kick offs need to be deeper but got better, special teams got much better after first quarter and will be better I'm positive, and we did what we needed to do.....Next week we need to clearly be clicking more and I think we will see constant improvement, Coach D is the best and will have these young men ready and geeting better all year.....
