EAST LANSING, Mich. – For the second time this season, Rachel Forsyth broke the school record in the 3,000m to highlight a productive weekend for the MSU track & field teams.

Saturday BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational

Michigan State had two runners competing at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Kate Stewart-Barnett was in action first, running the mile. She set a new PR with a time of 4:34.64 to finish 22nd. Her previous personal best was 4:36.30 set at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 1.

Rachel Forsyth was up next with her record-setting performance in the 3000m. With a time of 8:53.50, the freshman broke her own school record of 8:59.41 set on Dec. 7. She finished 12th overall in the highly competitive race and was third among collegiate runners.

Saturday Badgers Windy City Invitational

In the men's high jump, Brady Schultz got the Spartans going with a third-place finish (2.03m). Michigan State continued its strong showing in the field events. Rylan Finstrom finished second in the women's shot put with a personal best throw of 14.62m.

The Spartans had nine athletes competing in the women's 3,000m. Sophia Lucki was the top finisher for MSU with a new personal-best time of 9:20.45 to finish second. Sarah Forsyth finished fourth, crossing the line in 9:21.66, while Makenna Veen was sixth 9:30.24. In the 3,000m invite, Kaitlyn Hynes ran a 9:16.09 for a new PR.

In the men's 3,000m, Michigan State earned a couple more personal bests. Andrew Lane crossed the line in 8:08.67 to finish third for a new PR. Tyler Pritchett finished fourth with a time of 8:08.99 for yet another personal best.

Friday Badgers Windy City Invitational

In the women's 400m, Gabrielle Jeffries set a new personal best with a time of 56.72.On the track, Alex Yon set another personal best in the men's 600m. He finished sixth with a PR of 1:20.13.

Fatima Giron and Judith Rector both finished in the top 10 in the women's 5000m. Giron set a new PR to finish seventh with a time of 16:45.52. Rector was just behind Giron, to finish eighth with a time of
16:49.10.

Riley Hough took first place in the men's 5000m in a very tough field with a time of 13:53.00.

The men had a solid showing in the weight throw, finishing 2-3-5. Colby Morlock finished second (18.77m), while Xavier Griffiths finished third (18.64m). With a new personal best Dalton DeBeau was fifth (18.33m).

In the women's weight throw, Janan Khalil took second with a season-best throw of 18.23m. Jessica Stieb (17.17m) and Margaret Jones (16.54m) finished fourth and seventh, respectively. Landon Cosby placed fourth in the pole vault with a best vault of 4.87m.

Friday GVSU Big Meet

In the women's 3000m, Allison Chimielewski finished fifth a time of 10:02.39. Sophie Bonnema followed right behind with a time of 10:03.77. She finished sixth to earn a new personal best.

In the 5000m section three, Matt Zeleke set a new personal best, running a 14:47.49. Nathan Larson set a new PR in the 5000m section two, crossing the line in 14:22.59.

Three Spartans set personal bests in the women's mile open. Reese Powers led the way finishing sixth with a PR time of 5:00.80. Anjali Kidambi's new PR was a time of 5:05.18, while Julia Bockenstette was the third Spartan to PR with a time of 5:15.13.
