The seemingly endless "well they beat this team and look at where they're ranked, or look at how well they did against so and so" chatter got me thinking. Let's see what anecdotally we can learn from those lines of reasoning.
NW beat Stanford, which beat a top 10 USC. They also beat Duke which just beat a top 25 GT team this weekend. Yet, NW remains unranked. Explain. And while explaining, maybe give some insight into why there hasn't been more clammoring for giving NW it's due and less for UM actually losing, yes losing, a game to a team this playing well.
We are undefeated and ranked #2 in the country yet we have the same group of ninnies that get a weird sense of satisfaction from continually pointing out how much room is left in the glass to fill vs simply seeing each week for what it is: another step toward our goal.
I'd love to hear football analysis. I really would. Break down plays, talk about how guys graded out, how they're not following blocks well or whatever. But what I read last night lacked a ton in insight and was too heavy in sanctimonious cynicism. This team and staff have earned more.
