I was scanning through some photos of other teams that have done this type of color designation. The ones that show out the best all seem to have a promotional tie-in to t-shirts or pom-poms.
With MSU doing a gigapixel 360 picture and looking to sell and market it, I get that maybe pom-poms would obscure faces, but for an aerial view or non-zoom, the look of pom-poms will definitely enhance this. If they want the best one-time look....
- for overall look - do the pom-poms
- for zoom in enhancement issues - do the t-shirt give-away by section
