At work today, we met with our PR firm, and one of our reps shared that MLive's business model compensates and rewards all their writers based off the amount of clicks they receive. In addition, sites like MLive will employ people to edit headlines throughout the day, just to drive up clicks. To most of us this shouldn't come as a surprise, but for those of you who go crazy and link a story by Mike Griffith or Drew Sharp for it's sensational absurdity, remember that you're only rewarding them for supplying crap. So the next time Drew votes us #24 or Griffith has a misleading headline, bury the damn thing instead of posting it. Just a friendly reminder from our friends in the PR industry.
