SARASOTA, Fla. – Returning from a week off from competition, MSU Rowing put together improved results against several ranked opponents at the Big Ten Invite Friday and Saturday.
"I'm pleased with how the team is developing," first year head coach Stacey Rippetoe said. "We have a lot of growth in front of us and my staff and I are happy to see the changes in the team each week."
In the third regatta of the season, the seven Spartans boats' endurance was tested, racing the two kilometers three times in a weekend for the first time.
It was Michigan State's second varsity four that for the third consecutive competition posted the top result, clinching first Saturday by a second at 7:44.23. The second novice eight also shined on the weekend, topping the competitors in Friday's afternoon session, also by a second, and concluding the weekend with a second-place finish on Saturday.
Next, the Spartans will travel to the mitten state's southern neighbor for the highly-touted Dale England Cup on Lake Lemon in Bloomington Indiana on Saturday, April 27.
