As far as I know, Delton Williams was eligible to play in the opener at WMU when he was reinstated to the team. Nothing said by Dantonio during training camp would indicate otherwise. I don't know why its suddenly considered news that Williams could play against Western.

The depth chart at tailback entering the season is 1) London, 2) Holmes, 3) Scott, and 4) Williams.

Entering the first week of the season, I think it makes more sense to hand the ball off to London, Holmes, and Scott than to soak Williams with reps against Western. Those are guys that haven't had experience, and need to get it.

Frankly, its a waste of reps to give the ball to Williams in a game situation if he's physically not ready for carries. It's different altogether if the guys in front of him aren't getting the job done. If they are, however, they should play because they need experience.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Delton redshirt. He is fourth-string right now entering the season. Michigan State has never gone with a four-man rotation at tailback, and at this point in the season Williams isn't as productive as London and Holmes, and he doesn't have the upside that Scott has.
