athletically of MSU commits.
First...Most of MSU recruits could walk into the Opening and perform very well. The reason why they are not there is they did not attend a NIKE event, that is the only reason. A few "Freaks"
-Brandon Randle: How many LB's at Opening can long jump 23 feet and run 300 hurdle in under 40 seconds? The answer might be zero. Randle is a VERY athletic prospect for his position. Athletically Randle reminds me of former Purdue and NFL player Stanford Keglar. Freaky explosiveness.
-Josh King: How many DE's at the Opening are state wrestling champs? Let alone a champ in a state that produces plenty of wrestling talent. 6'6 220-pounds, that has excellent balance and understand leverage...they do not grow on trees folks.
-Trishton Jackson: Peoples-Jones won the SPARQ event and I have a feeling if Jackson was in Oregon he would have very well been in the finals as well. He clocked a 4.4 at MSU and has thrown down many a dunk on the basketball court. The key for skill players to do well in SPARQ is the powerball throw. Most players can run fast and jump high, that is the even that usually creates the separation.
-Auston Robertson: This one is pretty simple, how many 6-foot-5, 250-pound guys can play LB on a nationa championship 7v7 team? Check out this video to get an idea about his athletic ability http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3800120/highlights/138623382/v2
-Jonah Morris: This is a kid I think many are sleeping on. According to HUDL he clocked a sub 4.5 forty and a 34 inch vert at Ohio State's camp. Again, this is a kid that MSU is projecting as an OLB eventually. Most WR's would be very happy with those numbers.
-Joe Bachie: I know he is a 3-sport athlete and apparently a heck of a baseball player. He passed the eyeball test at Michigan State and was the top performer in his position group.
I could have easily written about Chambers, Lyke, Layne, Adams...well just about every commit
The bottom line is that camps like the Opening and RCS top 100 attract top talent, but their is SO much talent out there that is not there. Think about the athletic ability MSU has on defense and how many of them were invites to these events...Calhoun, Davis, Cox, Colquhoun, Sweat, Cooper, Bullough, Williamson...to name just a few
