Something I am hearing, anyone else hear this? UofM related

Someone whose information I am inclined to believe (Gives lot's of $$$ to MSU) and I were discussing recruiting and MSU sports in general. Talk turned to the 4 minor violations M self reported. This individual seemed to be of the thought that M self reported the minor violations to get in front of a major, as yet undisclosed violation. I have no more information then that, just wondering if anyone else has heard anything along these lines, or is this just wishful thinking on my friends behalf/
