OTHER MSU SPORTS Rachel Forsyth Breaks School Record to Highlight First Weekend of Indoor T&F Season

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Coming off a successful cross country season, the Michigan State track & field teams will now open the indoor season with a pair of meets this weekend. The bulk of the athletes will be competing in the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan on Friday, Dec. 6. A pair of runners will run in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.

At the meet hosted by Grand Valley State at the Kelly Family Sports Center, the Spartans will have representatives in the jumps, throws and sprints events. In total, over 40 Spartans will be in action at the GVSU Holiday Open.

On the women's side, Breanne Black, Natalie Blake and Sophia Mettes will all be competing in the pole vault. Veterans Amani Nuels and Kaia Scheffler will both be running the 60m dash with Scheffler also competing in the 60m hurdles.

On the men's side, NCAA qualifiers Dalton DeBeau (shot put, weight throw) and Noah Sage (200m) will be making their debuts at Grand Valley. Terrance Muex will open the season running the 400m, while Adam Blue will compete in the pole vault.

Big Ten Cross Country Freshman of the Year Rachel Forsyth and Kaitlyn Hynes will be competing in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. Forsyth will be running the 3000m, while Hynes will compete in the 5000m.
