Friday saw the MSU hockey roster for next season become just a little bit clearer, with the commitment of forward Eric Nilson. Nilson, who has been playing his junior hockey in Sweden is projected to be drafted in the first 2 rounds of the upcoming NHL Draft. The 18 year old, son of former NHL player Marcus Nilson, was born in Calgary while his father was playing for the Flames but has developed as a hockey player in Sweden.

This past season Eric Nilson played for Djurgårdens IF J20 in Stockholm, in the J20 Nationell league, and posted 12 goals and 26 assists in 37 games played as the team won a league championship. Nilson also represented Sweden at the U18 Worlds and will be in consideration for the World Junior Championship (U20) this coming December. Expect Nilson to join the Spartans next season, and the Spartans also will be looking to add more forward to their roster for a complete roster.
