Over the years I have posted a variety of things concerning University of Montana Football. On our level, FCS, we are pretty good. For years, we owned the BIg Sky. Then along came Vernon Adams, who has eaten up most of the Big Sky Conference for 3 years. Over those 3 years he and Eastern Washington have taken it to the UM Grizzlies four times. On 3 of the 4 occasions the game was coming to a close and the Griz were leading only to have Adams and Eastern pull out the victory. It really hurt, as last second football loses do.
So last night with the Ducks moving into our territory and less than 2 minutes remaining, I was in agony. I had seen this play out too many times before. I was just waiting for that big play Adams seemed to always have up his sleeve. When Thomas and Frey sacked that little stinker, I was still shaking in my boots. So when we forced the bad throw I thought I'd fly through the roof. My hat is off to honor those those players and coaches of the Spartan defense, who once again came up with magic at the right time.
Also, I want to thanks Spartan Mag fans who have read my posts about the Griz and the skill/tenacity of Vernon Adams. I had to get that out there and some of you even responded.
It is great to have the Adams Monkey off my back. This victory was as sweet as it gets for me.
