... And that is OK. Success is relative. We just beat 4 legit opponents (all 4 bowl teams last year) ... and, while there are obvious areas of needed improvement, there was not a moment that I thought we would lose any of them. OK, maybe I was on edge the last minute of the Oregon game ... but we closed that one out in typical fashion.
We've won jumping out to big leads
... and then holding on. We've won a close game ... and then pulling away late. We've won a game that was close throughout. We've won every way possible ... aside from a comeback. That's a good thing.
I tend to blow some sunshine... but I don't begrudge those who are discouraged right now. That #2 before our name has given us greater expectations than we've ever had in my lifetime. I have been exasperated watching teams carve up our D for long stretches ... and watching our O sputter as well. We don't look like the #2 team in the country right now. But we are ... and we have a few weeks to shore up some deficiencies and get guys healthy.
I hate to use the "we get everyone's best shot" mantra ... but that is true. #2 will do that. #2 will also make us all watch the games through a different lense. It's domination or desolation around here! Comes with the territory.
Despite our issues we find a way to win and that's all that matters right now. That said, I fear for the mental health of many (including me) if/when that first L drops!
