Kahlee Hamler, Luke Farrell, and Michigan commitment Dele' Harding were arguably the most impressive players at Michigan State's 7-on-7 camp today.

Hamler was the most impressive receiver at this year's team passing camp. He has great speed and athleticism, but the thing that impressed me the most was how well he ran routes. Hamler made difficult catches look easy. He scorched teams vertically on a couple of coverage busts, which is to be expected. He also made some tough grabs against good coverage. Big plays are great, but you really don't get to see receivers make plays when covered at the high school level because most FBS caliber receivers are typically running wide open.

Hamler also played both safety and corner for OLSM. He had a couple of really nice PBU's against private school powerhouse Maryland Eastern Christian.

Hamler is also a competitor. No back-down in that young man.

Sources indicate that Michigan State feels good about where they stand with Hamler.

Hamler will be at Sound Mind Sound Body this week. It is my understanding that Terrence Samuel is running a lot of the receiver drills

Luke Farrell definitely looks the part, and Michigan State coaches would love to have him in this class. It is difficult to get a clear read on where Farrell is leaning, but look for Notre Dame to make a strong push for the Rivals250 tight end. The Fighting Irish made Farrell's Top 5 after offering the first week in June.

Jim watched Farrell more than I did and also spoke with his coach, so he probably has a better read on things than I do. Whoever gets Farrell is going to get a talented TE.

Dele' Harding didn't take as many snaps as some of his high school teammates, but he moved well when he was on the field and he has good size for a Big Ten linebacker. If Harding expressed interest in Michigan State the Spartans would recruit him. At this point, however, Eastern Christian Coach I think the Spartans would recruit him. His high school coach indicated that the Spartans have made no attempt to get into the mix for the Michigan commitment.

Eastern Christian will be making stops at Youngstown State, West Virginia, and Ohio State during the next couple of days before closing out the weekend with a visit to Michigan on Sunday.

I had a good conversation with Eastern Christian Coach Dwayne Thomas after his team's final game. He said that he was very impressed with the experience his team had at Michigan State. He also indicated that he has a strong relationship with Maryland recruiter Ron Burton.

He also has a connection to Michigan State through Brad Lunsford, the Director of Executive Football Operations. Lunsford served as Director of Football Operations at Delaware State in 2006 while Thomas was on the coaching staff as a defensive assistant.
