Went over to Bowie, Md today for an 11 am 1st pitch between AA Baysox and Tiger's Erie Seawolves. Jackson Jobe started.

Yikes! He started out a little slow (walked a guy) but by the 3rd was hitting triple digits. He has a 90-93 mph slider and a changeup around 83-85. He starts some guys out with off speed stuff then blows fastballs right by them. Yes, it's AA, but he looked unhittable for the most part. No hits, 1 BB and 5 K's. He tweaked his ankle warming up for the 4th and they took him out. I was sitting with another geezer, Orioles fan, who knew nothing about Jobe. By the 3rd he was looking him up on his phone. Nodded approvingly.

Hope his UCL holds up. If it does, he's got stardom written all over him. He'll be in Toledo later this year. Detroit? Maybe...maybe.

BTW, the rest of the Tiger's lineup didn't jump off the page. Gage Workman hit a HR, dead pull hitter down the RF line, but muffed an easy grounder at SS. Hao-Yu Lee, 2B the Tigers got from Phillies last year for Lorenzen looked decent at the plate, but he doesn't stand out. Tigers lost 6-4. Relief pitchers all looked meh.
