EAST LANSING, Mich. – Coming off a highly successful split squad weekend, the Michigan State track& field team will head to the Crossroads of America Invitational, January 24-25 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Last week, the Spartans were split at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor and the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open in Allendale. MSU came away with 14 event titles. The Simmons-Harvey Invitational was a scored meet. The Michigan State men finished second with 102.5 points, just behind Michigan's 105.5 points. The Spartan women were also second with 109 points with the Wolverines winning with 126.
This week, the Crossroads of America Invitational is spread across two days. The meet begins on Friday at 5 p.m. with the women's weight throw. Michigan State has eight athletes competing in the weight throw led by Elle Adrian and Valadian Pallett, who have both already won titles in the event this season.
The Friday field events also include the men's weight throw, which will see six Spartans in action. Both the men and women's long jump will be contested on Friday along with the women's long jump and the men's pole vault.
Events on the track begin at 6 p.m. with the prelims of the womens 60m hurdles, which will feature Amani Nuels. The men's 60m hurdle prelim will follow, including Logan Allen, Cameron Cheetam, Noah Heiber, Drew Novak, Ian Thompson and Jackson Webber.
Saturday's action begins at 11 a.m. with the women's shot put and the finals of the women's 60m hurdles.
