Had this thought on the way home after reading Comp's MMQB article...
Forgot that Nicholson switched positions this year so think about this secondary line up against spread teams:
Nicholson - Strong Safety (position he played last year, can focus on tackling downhill)
D. Cox - Free Safety (natural position and better at coverage)
D. Hicks - Field Corner
Arjen / Edmundson - Boundary Corner
RJ Williamson - Star / Slot Linebacker (coverage skills and ball hawk)
Riley - Mike LB
D. Harris - Money LB (not his normal position, but faster than Frey / Reschke)
That is some speed! Not good for UM, but maybe for half the snaps against OSU.
This could be our version of a nickel defense since MD doesn't like to run one normally.
Thoughts?
