The last few seasons with the help of Director of College Advancement & Performance Curtis Blackwell the Spartans have been hosting prospects at the beginning of the season. The idea is for recruits to get an idea of how Head Coach Mark Dantonio runs a program that is easily one of the most successful in the nation.
SpartanMag.com has been able to confirm that class of 2016 commitments will be on campus this weekend:
-Wide receiver Trishton Jackson of West Bloomfield High School in Michigan
-Wide receiver Justin Layne of Cleveland Benedictine High School in Ohio
-Linebacker Joe Bachie of Berea High School in Ohio
-Offensive tackle Thiyo Lukusa of DePaul Catholic High School in New Jersey
As far as uncommited 2016 players:
-Wide Receiver Donnie Corley of Detroit Martin Luther King High school is expected to be on campus. I do not expect a decision to be made by Corley until later in that fall.
With 20 commitments for 2016 the Spartans are already beginning to focus on building rapport with the top in-state prospect in the class of 2017. Below are a few of the players who are expected to be in East Lansing this weekend.
-RB/DB Allen Stritzinger of Warren De La Salle High School (UM offer)
-OL Ja’Raymond Hall of Oak Park High School (UM/PSU offer)
-OL Jordan Reid of Detroit Cass Tech High School (Florida/Tenn offer)
-DB Ambry Thomas of Detroit Martin Luther King High School (MSU offer)
-WR Hunter Rison of Ann Arbor Skyline High School (MSU commitment)
-DB Richard Bowens III of Orchard Lake Saint Marys School (Minny offer)
-ATH Kalon Gervin of Detroit Martin Luther King High School (2018) (Tol/Akron offer)
-QB Jarius Grissom of Dearborn Heights Robichaud High School (CMU/EMU offer)
-DT Tyrone Sampson of Detroit East English (2018) (Akron Offer)
I will have more names as I am able to confirm.
Head Coach Mark Dantonio likes to meet prospect in person when it comes to extending scholarship offers. It is possible that one or two of the above players could leave Michigan State with some good news.
