Way OT - Traverse City Advice

Taking the family to TC for a couple days before heading down to Grand Rapids for a wedding. Need some advice on best beach area, activities for kids and for family and just good things to do in general. Want to spend time a sleeping bear dunes - is there a good beach area there that doesn't require extreme walking?
