Brother flew in from NYC, got on the field for pregame, which was awesome with all the recruits, current players, and alumni. A few game thoughts:

* I thought our defense won the game. To hold that monster to 21 points is impressive.

* The play call I had the most problem with was the Terry run. Just not the time and situation. Let your senior quarterback make a play there. The Geiger miss on the next play just was salt in the wound.

* Concerned about Geiger...

* We called a couple defensive time-outs in crucial situations where it looked like we were scrambling for personnel and to get organized. The two 4th downs after we called time-out we got a stop, with very vanilla play calls by Oregon, which surprised me.

* We played so many guys on D, which will help as the year goes on. I thought Harris struggled the most to make plays in the flats and in space. Of all the defensive players, Copeland is my biggest pleasant surprise, when he went out, we told a step backwards. I have a lot of confidence in our back 4 and front 4...

* Burbridge is clearly the go to guy, which we hoped he would be. Hope we can get Arnett and Troup going.

* Cook has not been his best, but good enough. Accuracy on a few key throws was not good enough. I expect him to have a few big games coming soon.

* After the game, while people were streaming out, I just took a moment to sit in my seat, smile, and enjoy the moment. Shot a quick look at my wife and brother. I thought of my Grandpa and Dad, who have passed and took me to so many MSU games. They saw plenty of highs and lows. They would've loved to be in that stadium last night. As crucial and upset as I get as a fan, I have to stop myself. This is one of the golden eras of MSU football. As fans we can get so swept up, so angry, and so focused on perfection and the next game. Stop and smell the roses once in awhile! It wasn't always this good and at some point in the future, it won't be again!
