IIRC, about 3 months ago, we had about 10-15 posters on this site stating that Verlander is done, his fastball was never going to get above 92mph, he was successful because of his prior use of PED's etc.

Don't look now but Verlander has put together about 12 consecutive quality starts. His fastball has hit 99 again (in the 8th inning!). And, but for a miserable Tiger bullpen, he'd have about 8 more wins this year.

Maybe the Tigers made the right decision keeping Verlander--and letting Max go?

Note, I'm not saying Verlander will win 20 next year. I'm guessing Verlander will be a quality No. 1 starter next year--though certainly not as dominant as Verlander in his MVP season. I'm just saying that numerous "experts" on this Board might have jumped the gun in stating that "Verlander is done."

As I stated then, why do people feel the need to declare a superstar done--and declare the Tigers (or any franchise, for that matter) incompetent? I think it shows that people love to THINK they know as much as the Owner, GM and/or Manager--when in fact, they don't know jack . . . It's easy to be a critic when you have no stake in the game.
