It is hard to believe that after two consecutive top 5 finishes we need a big game at home to elevate our status but "it is what it is" (hate that expression).

Well, we got it and I am 57 and we haven't been here since I can barely remember. But I do remember in 3rd grade in 66 when my teacher Ms. Kilpatrick (whose father was a photo journalist for the Free Press) was my 3rd grade teacher. She graduated from MSU and she liked me for some reason, unlike the nuns, so I had a permanent affinity for all things MSU since then. There was nothing like the ND-MSU matchup before and it had the entire nations attention. She went to that game and was pissed off Monday in class. It was the only time I ever remember her seeming remotely like that. This weekend was as big and I hope she is still around to see it.

I lived through probation in the late 70's when I was an undergrad , the Muddy 2 years, Perles and Saban's hopefulness followed by subsequent flirtations with other jobs and …. oh and did I mention BW and JLS? I don't want to not wake up from this. It wasn't just coaching misfires but this general idea, from at least Saban and JLS, that somehow national prominence wasn't in the picture because of our place in the food chain. When you start believing that stuff you cap your own ceiling. MD raised the roof.

This has been posted a 100 times before but thank God for our president, AD and coaches. For those long suffering MSU fans we are on the "holy " land that we all knew was possible.

Oh, and just as a little aside…... maybe just a little nod to Izzo for starting it all. From the hope to the results despite all the obstacles.

It was always good to be green though not always easy. Now it is both.
