Why I would never add Notre Dame if I was Big Ten

1) Notre Dame is a Midwestern school that the other teams have to compete with for athletes for. If Midwest kids/parents know they can see their kids play opponents close to home that is going to help them recruit. Force ND to play teams a LONG was away, especially the non revenue sports. Notre Dame has done everything to avoid Big Ten, the Big Ten should make them a true outlier in every sport. BTW, IMO Notre Dame's prominence and reputation are not what it use to be and 20 years it will be even less. You make Notre Dame an outlier and it will benefit the Big Ten in every sport.

2) The Big Ten has 2 spots left. Texas is the real gem out there. The problem is Texas makes no sense if you do not add another school in that geographic footprint. That is why I have always said Oklahoma is the linchpin. The Big 12 can't exist without Oklahoma. Texas would rather join the Big 10 with rivals Nebraska and Oklahoma than star new in the PAC 12. So taking Notre Dame mean you probably will not get Texas.

3) The Big Ten is comprised of mainly large public institutions that do not have a religious component. I know some have made that argument with BYU joining Big 12, well ND is no different. They are a small, private college with a religious component. I am not anti-religion in any sense, but if you have 14 teams that do not have that component, why change? BTW, other conferences have schools that have that aspect like BC, Wake, Baylor and TCU.

4) While Notre Dame has a big following, revenue is done by TV sets. How many more states are going to pick up the BTN if ND was added? BTN already has deals with NYC. I assume to ONLY area that might want it would be Boston? I am not sure. My point is, ND"s wheelhouse is mostly already encapsulated by the BTN. Texas on the other hand...
