Write up from the Athletic. Interesting comment on the 2022 Spartan offense (it was "lifeless"):

Wide Receiver: Jayden Reed, Michigan State (5-11, 191)

There were several contenders for top wide receiver, but Reed consistently gave cornerbacks trouble with his ability to separate. His top-end speed is awesome, but even more impressive were the different ways he created separation: subtle hesitation, body fakes and a skilled throttle to tempo corners off his route path. For a leaner receiver, his hand strength is outstanding and allows him to be a dependable finisher.

Reed’s play this week had me returning to the tape, which was a reminder of just how lifeless the Michigan State offense was in 2022. The 2021 tape, though, is where you see more of the explosiveness from Reed. He can play inside or outside and adds value as a punt returner.

Several NFL scouts had a firm third-round grade on him over the summer, but his mediocre 2022 season clouded things a little. It also made his performance this week all that more important. Reed’s ability to create easy separation is why he gets the nod.
