East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team shot an 11-under par 565 and is in 11th place among 16 teams after the first day of play at the 10th Annual Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, being played at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament concludes on Monday, Oct. 16.

The Spartans posted rounds of 6-under par 282 and 5-under par 283, respectively, to sit at 11-under par 565 after two rounds.

South Florida leads the field of 16 teams at 28-under par 548 (273-275), while Toledo is in second place (26-under par 550), Indiana is in third place (24-under par 552), Cincinnati is in fourth place (18-under par 558) and North Florid and Liberty are tied for fifth place (17-under par 559).

Day One Results

Senior August Meekhof is the leader for Michigan State, tied for 10th place at 7-under par 137 (71-66). Meekhof had seven birdies in the second round.

Junior Satchel Pierce is tied for 33rd place at 2-under par 142 (71-71).

Graduate Drew Hackett and freshman Lorenzo Pinili are tied for 46th place with scores of 1-under par 143. Hackett posted scores of 2-under par 70 and 1-over par 73, respectively, while Pinili finished with rounds of 1-under par 71 and even-par 72.

Freshman Lucas Acevedo is tied for 78th place at 7-over par 151 (72-79).

Graduate Pierce Morrissey, playing as an individual, is also tied for 46th place at 1-under par 143. Morrissey opened with a 1-over par 73 and closed with a 2-under par 70.
