So... kind of big news today. The BCHL's Wenatchee Wild just announced that they have bought the Winnipeg Ice's place in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Michigan State prospect Christian Kim is on the Wild's roster.
This move to the WHL is notable because once a player plays in the Canadian Hockey League (which includes the WHL) are ineligible for the NCAA because of the stipend they receive. The NCAA considers the CHL "semi-pro."
Usually moving teams isn't really huge news but feels like it is in this case.
I imagine some sort of dispersal draft will take place for players on the roster.
The BCHL is currently exploring options for players on the Wild's roster. Wenatchee is essentially moving the Winnipeg Ice to Wenatchee.
