Ok, with the risk of losing my dude credibility (if I ever had any to start with) I went to see the Barbie Movie last night. My girlfriend really wanted to see it, so I agreed.
The whole situation and set-up is honestly confusing to me. There were people in the theatre dressed in pink. People CHEERED when the movie started. I have rarely seen anything like it. I mean, I have two older sisters and a daughter, but I feel like none of them were hugely into Barbie... so I honestly still don't really get it.
But, I must say, the movie itself was actually VERY funny. I was quirky and weird and all the right ways. Some of the performances were just really good (Will Farrell, Rhea Perlman, Ryan Gosling, and Michael Cera all stood out).
The final line of the film was great and the opening sequence was a hilarious call back to a very iconic sci fi movie. It was well done.
So, if your significant other is putting the arm on you to go see it... it's Ok. It's doctor (Green and White) approved.
