OTHER SCHOOLS: The Verge is turning off comments online

This is one of the latest in what may be a trend of limiting comments online at various sites. While we do have free speech, many seem to feel that it also means attack and hate speech also. So, some of these sites seem to be saying that while you do have the right to say whatever you want (this is America after all), there is no obligation of a site to allow those comments to be posted. I've read some speculation that the quality of the conversations/comments etc after taking similar stands had elevated the discourse on these sites since people who hate and attack aren't allowed. I find this trend interesting and ............ applicable in other online arenas.
