Michigan State men's ice hockey commits Trey Augustine ('05 goaltender) and Maxim Strbak ('05 defenseman) are representing their countries at this year's World Junior Championships which kicked off today. This thread will serve for updates on both players as their individual teams perform.
Augustine is representing Team USA and was in net tonight in the win over Latvia. He committed back in September after flipping from Michigan. He is 12-0-2 with a GAA of 2.10 and a save percentage of .930 with the National Development Team this season. He's also the youngest player on Team USA's World Junior roster. Team USA defeated Latvia 5-2. Augustine made 15 saves on 17 shots.
Here's an interview Jon Morosi did with Augustine.
Strbak is a recent commit and is representing Slovakia, who faces Finland tomorrow. All games will air on NHL Network.
