Kansas had just completed a 5-0 run after a dunk basket to go up 23-18. Izzo immediately call’s a timeout. Result we get a bucket and stop any chance of a big run. Great timeout. Better than saving it to draw up a set for last shot of first half. Great job , Coach!

The shooting woes of the last several seasons continues. It’s time for our staff to hire a legit shooting coach that does nothing but teach how to shoot. Even if Izzo has to pull time away from working on sets, there is a bigger need to improve the shooting % of the entire team. Even Izzo said at the half today that we were getting open looks but shots weren’t falling. Sounds like a broken record from his commentary over the last few seasons. It’s time to stop complaining about this recurring problem, and fix it.

It doesn’t take long. I hired a guy for my son when he was in middle school. The guy started with mechanics shooting under the basket, and worked his way out after repetition got the mechanics right. To this day, my son can shoot the rock. I have to believe if we hired a similar coach for our D1 basketball players, we would fix this glaring weakness.

I am very disappointed because this was a game we could have won. But you will not win many games shooting 12.5% from the 3 point line. This looks like a carry over from last year. Akins and Booker disappeared- how much leash will they have? Booker sat with 0 points and Akins only took 8 shots and 2 points. Is it lack of confidence?
