FOOTBALL Poor execution highlighted in Michigan State's 47-10 loss to Indiana

Saturday's matchup against No. 13 Indiana was the type of result that Spartan fans have grown accustomed to against highly-ranked teams in the past few years.

Despite an early 10-0, Indiana scored the next 47 points — resulting in an embarrassing 47-10 loss at home for MSU.

Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith shared his thoughts following the game, and ripped the band-aid off to start his postgame press conference.

“Well, obviously that was tough,” he said. “You’re gonna get exposed against a really good team when you don't execute well. And credit to those guys (on Indiana), sometimes we quickly just think about ourselves — those guys executed at a really high level.”

FOOTBALL IU-MSU difference

I am still having trouble wrapping my head why Indiana went from 3-9 to 9-0 in one year. The players in both teams were not stellar thus the house cleaning that Smith and Cignetti did. The first question is whether or not Cignetti is a superior evaluator of talent. My other question is the coaching. Their OC has a lot of new talent and they executed so freaking well. It seemed that the receivers knew exactly where to be, and the play calling was right on target.
Their defense was awesome against our running game. Did we try to adjust at all or would it have not made any difference?
Going into the game I thought we had a chance to keep it close based on their soft schedule. I was wrong. IU is well coached and I hope they can demolish the Wolverines.

Big game today. I'm neither a Lions nor a Packers fan (I didn't grow up in Michigan), but I have to say that I'm kinda jumping on the Lions bandwagon. I think that there's some legitimacy in me rooting for the Lions because I own property in Michigan 😅 But I'm from NJ and NY and I'm a Bills fan (I actually like all the NY teams, I'm not a Mets fan that hates the Yanks, nor am I Giants fan that hates the Jets).
