OFF TOPIC: God have mercy on my soul

Today I am going to the mall. Yes, the mall. I ordered a bunch of stuff online for my ex-wife (we are very close friends) and it was almost ALL out of stock. She loves pajamas and so I was on the Macy's website, threw a bunch of PJs in the cart, and a few days later told me that they were out of stock. I bought her some Lululemon pants and sweatshirt too, but now have to go get her some pajamas. This, after I spent 3 hours at the Apple Store on Thursday night -- I ordered my daughter a new iPhone and decided to upgrade mine while I was there, but there was an issue with my FIndMy and it needed to be sorted out before I could purchase the phone. Luckily, I had my MacBook with me and so I sat there working but when 9:00 p.m. rolled around, I said "F it" and started walking out. The lady came over and told me that the issue was resolved. BUT .. I still had to transfer my data to my new 16 Pro Max. Smh... I was the last person at the Apple Store that night. So yes, mall today --

Wish me luck, fellas .... and feel free to share your Christmas shopping horror stories.

MEN'S BASKETBALL Tom Izzo says the Spartans were "a step slow" in win over Western Michigan

As we waited for Izzo to come talk to the press on Monday evening following MSU's win over Western, I was curious how salty Coach would be following the win. MSU did get an 18-point victory, but it was not the most beautiful win of the year so far. I think the answer was that he was "medium salty." He clearly was not happy with the Spartans, but he wasn't depressed either. He was still probably more upbeat than at any time over the last three years. He was annoyed with his team today, but not angry.

He also had a lot of nice things to say about the crowd and his opponent, especially about the return of DJ Stephens.

Here is also a bonus quote about Coen Carr, who had a quiet, but still productive day. Carr has also now hit 14 consecutive free throws. He is well on his way to being a true crowd favorite, not because of the dunks, but because of who the kid is and how hard he works. He is a perfect Izzo player. Perfect.

"Coen is a human highlight reel and an unbelievable kid," Izzo said. "I love him. He was the one guy today that every huddle was trying to get our guys going, I mean, he saw what was missing."

If Carr is still on the roster next year, I suspect he will be a captain. He gets it.

OFF TOPIC: BREAKING: Local HOF Broadcaster David "Mad Dog" Demarco is moving back to Mid-Michigan

Demarco moved to Alabama 18 months ago and was working in sports radio. He recently visited the Lansing area in October and claims his wife is very homesick, and they are selling their house.

Not sure what he will do when he gets here, but expect to see him back on the radio or in the media in some capacity.

RECRUITING Keep an eye on this one: UPDATE: Oregon State Guard Luka Vincic has committed to MSU

Luka Vincic

"Thank you to everyone at Oregon State who has made my time here special. From Coaches, teammates, to the Beaver and Corvallis communities as a whole, I wish all of you the best. I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal," Vincic said on X Monday.

Over the past three seasons, Vincic has appeared in 22 games. In 2024, he appeared in 10 and started two at center. Vincic also made multiple appearances at right guard this season. He helped pave the way for a rushing attack that averaged 6.71 yards per attempt this past season.

In the class of 2022, Vincic was a three-star prospect and the #13 prospect in the state of Washington. At that time, he received offers from Utah, Cal, Arizona State, Air Force, and UNLV on the FBS side, as well as several Ivy League programs.

FOOTBALL Many Spartan football players took to Twitter en masse to thank fans for their support, which was a nice gesture.

It was a rough season, but whoever organized it, it was appreciated, at least by me. Many people donate to NIL, and it is a nice touch to show that the emotional and financial support was appreciated.

"Thank You Spartan Nation For Supporting Us This Year" was the typical message.
