As much as I love the NCAA Tournament and the concept and practice of "bracketology" I honestly do not start paying much attention at all to the various online brackets until around this time of year. There is simply too much chaos and variance in any season for projection made even in the middle of February to hold much value. It's fun and all, but it isn't actually meaningful until a few weeks before Selection Sunday.

This year @Jonah Wilson has done a nice just summarizing where MSU stands overall. I refer you his updated article here:

As Jonah points out, MSU is generally considered to be a very solid No, 2 seed right now, and I happen to think that very likely where they will land on Selection Sunday.

But as I look at the broader bracket, I think that we can take a guess as to which region MSU is going to play in and who the likely No. 1 seed is that they will be paired with.

Based on the current rankings (AP, NET, whatever) it looks like four teams from the SEC are very likely going to end at on either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed line. This will likely have a big impact on where MSU is placed.
