I'm holding down my breakfast as I type this, but if I was looking to hire a new head coach, I'd definitely consider Bill O'Brien.
O'Brien did a damn good job at PSU under very difficult conditions. Two winning seasons when most thought PSU was going to fall off the map. His six seasons in Houston, he won four division titles, and had five of six winning seasons.
Make no mistake, O'Brien's personality is not suited for the NFL, but in college, where the head coaches are more like dictators, he could be the perfect guy.
Not sure why I was thinking about him, but I am surprised his name is never mentioned when a new head coaching job opens up.
Yes, everyone in Houston wanted him gone in the worse way a couple years ago, but as I said, his personality is perfect for the college game. Ivy League guy, too.
