His grandfather Corey Boyer was an All-American in track at Ferris State in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He won the indoor 440 hurdles in 1970. He finished second in nation in the 110 hurdles in 1969 and 1970. Mr. Boyer still holds the school record in the 110 hurdles (14.14) and the 400 hurdles (50.74). Both records were set in 1970.
