Tomorrow is actually the first day since Jan. 1 that no Big Ten teams are playing, so I am planning to issue a longer and more formal piece then. For now, I have updated the odds and data tracker as of Sunday morning. Here is the key information:

Here are the updated odds to win or share the Big Ten title. I added one more column to this chart to show the odds of a solo title for each team.

It is not shocking that MSU has now dropped to second place, but I was expecting it to by closer to 50-50 with Purdue. The main issue is that Purdue continues to have a stronger Kenpom ranking, which tilts the numbers in favor of the Boilermakers. That said, despite the weaker schedule that MSU has played so far, the Spartans still have the strongest strength of resume in conference play, and are still a half game ahead of Purdue in the standings.

Make no mistake that the lose to USC stings, but that sting can be erased if the Spartans can get back on the horse and win at UCLA. A win in Westwood would pull the Spartans into likely a dead heat with Purdue, assuming the Boilermakers can espace Iowa City with a win on Tuesday night.
