EAST LANSING, Mich. - Graduate guard/forward Julia Ayrault has been named to the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Watch, as selected by members of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
She was one of 50 players named to the midseason watch list. Ayrault is one of seven players from the Big Ten, including Destiny Adams (Rutgers), Lauren Betts (UCLA), Jaloni Cambridge (Ohio State), Cotie McMahon (Ohio State), Kaylene Smikle (Maryland) and JuJu Watkins (USC).
Ayrault is first on the team in scoring, averaging 16.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. She is 11th in the Big Ten in scoring and 12th in rebounding. She is also seventh in the league in blocks, averaging 1.52 bpg. She has started 21 games of 22 games this season for the Spartans.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is presented annually to the women's national player of the year by the USBWA. Named for the legendary UCLA guard, the award was first presented in the 1987-88 season and formally named in Meyers Drysdale's honor in the 2011-12 season.
The No. 20 Spartans are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 9 against Michigan. The game will be broadcast on FS1 at 2 p.m.
