Just for fun, let's make a bunch of assumptions:

-Baylor beats TCU, and finishes undefeated.
-OSU is undefeated.
-MSU has 1 narrow loss--@OSU.
-Clemson wins the ACC, including the championship game. 1 loss maximum, maybe undefeated. Doesn't matter.
-Assume 2 or more losses for ND, and they are out of consideration.

*Now, look at the JOKE that is the Baylor schedule. Non-Conf and Conf. Where's the beef? (@KSU, OU HOME, @TCU, and that's about it. And their non-conf slate is criminal...)

So for playoff purposes:

-A 1-loss Clemson, that wins their conf championship game is in. Period.
-Ohio State is obviously in.
-The SEC champ is IN. Georgia, Bama, whomever. They're in. They could be fuc@*ng 7-5, and they're in.

The last spot? Probably a fight between:

-The Pac12 champ
-The Big12 champ--in this case, undefeated Baylor
-1 loss MSU

Pac12:
-Does a 1 loss Oregon team as Pac12 champ get in, over MSU? You'd think not, but it absolutely could. But no way a 2 loss Oregon team slips past MSU.
-A 1 loss USC, that wins the Pac12 Championship game--they're in. Some non-conf beef on the schedule (ND) and tough road to hoe in the Pac12 South (ASU, UA, Utah, UCLA...) They'd deserve to be in.
-A 2 loss USC? Not so fast...door cracks open for MSU.
-A 2 or more loss Pac12 champ like ASU? No way they get in...and that could happen. Not unlikely.
*BUT, you need some help from the Pac12 to beat up on each other, a bit. You want that champ to have a minimum of two losses, and it's ideal if it's ASU and not Oregon or USC, with their strong non-conf schedules.
So let's assume lady luck is on our side, and you have a good, but two loss ASU as champ. Not getting in.

Then it comes down to Baylor and MSU. How in the world, could the committee believe anything they say, if they were to take an undefeated Baylor, over a 1-loss MSU? MSU has a non-conf of Oregon, Air Force (bowl team) and @WMU (bowl team) CMU (bowl team) vs. that candy-ass schedule Baylor has?

And in conf, MSU has to go to Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State? Plenty of sauce right there...

If the committee wanted to fix CFB, and ensure fans keep coming to games, and that teams schedule like they've been directed to, they would have no CHOICE in my mind, but to award MSU the fourth spot, and soberly tell everyone who will listen that Baylor just didn't do anything from a scheduling standpoint to earn the spot.
