I was listening to XM radio, channel 84 this morning and the topic of OSU quarterbacks came up. In the 10-1 slot on that program Chris Childers and Rick Neuheisel team the show. Childers is the host and Neuheisel is the "color" man. Neuheisel is exceedingly smart and is a natural teacher.
Today Neuheisel (former qb and former coach at UCLA) was asked what his opinion was regarding Urban Meyer and his curious choice of Cardale Jones as starting quarterback at OSU. Rick said that he had no inside information but would follow his observation of the sidelines of the past two game. He felt that even though JT Barrett was voted captain, Cardale Jones (with all his tweets) had the "big personality" that was similar to Jameis Winston at Florida State. The players follow him and he can/will take the players where he goes.
This last week Cardale was taken out of the game and JT inserted as quarterback. Cardale kind of kept to himself on the sidelines. On the other hand when Cardale was playing JT was on the sidelines, cheering for the team and engaging other players on the sideline.
Long story short: Neuheisel suspects that Urban Meyer has to start Cardale until JT Barrett clearly outplays him before he can name JT Barrett starting quarterback. If he annoints JT Barrett now he may lose the team or it may become divided.
My friends, as Spartan fans, this bears watching closely. I welcome your comments.
