As Selection Sunday approaches, I did a bit of a deep dive on the best- and worst-case scenarios for the top 11 teams at the top of the seed list. I used my fairly new seeding algorithm, which does a pretty dang good job replicating the seed list on bracket matrix.

The math tells me that MSU cannot pass enough SEC teams to earn a No. 1 seed. But the committee is not that best at math, so I think that there is still a chance if MSU makes it to Sunday in the BTT. Either way, I think MSU needs a good showing in order to play themselves out of the South Region and a potential date with Auburn prior to the Final Four. I am pretty confident that this will happen.

I am less confident that MSU will get placed in the Midwest Region, which is just way more convenient. The Commitee should send Houston out west, but they might not. Again, they are not that good at this.
