In terms of the unofficial old color code scale that we have used here on the Bunker for years, most of you know that "red" signifies that a commitment has taken place. Some of you might wonder where this came from, and why.

Well, years ago, we borrowed the homeland security system of rating terror threats and applied it to recruiting. That seems pretty insensitive, doesn't it? Well, no one ever said we had much tact around here. And that's why it's a casual system and not an official one.

(Honestly, way back then, we had only one daily competitor, and it was the local newspaper, the LSJ. If we knew of a commitment, sometimes we would wait until 11 pm to break the news so that the local paper couldn't get it in their print editions the next morning. How antique does that seem today? There was no Twitter. We could actually sit on a story for a few hours. So, as a means of letting our subscribers know that something was about to happen, we would put out a dark orange, or even a red, with details to come. And then we would embargo the information and spring it later in the evening. It was a fun little system for a very short time. Since then, the color code system has remained around here, but for ceremonial purposes only).

Through the years, we have gotten away from the other colors such as yellow, orange, and dark orange. We don't use those color codes anymore. But maybe we should. It was kind of fun, somewhat informative and harmless. (I tried to aggravate you guys by typing the word yellow in yellow, but it was barely visible).

Yellow means there is an elevated chance of a commitment from the player. Orange would mean there is increased chatter of an impending commitment. Dark orange would mean something more favorable than that.

Blue would mean interest has cooled off for one or both parties.

Donnie Corley has been a yellow for quite some time. We moved him to an orange a few times in the last couple of weeks. But now he would be a yellow, or a dark yellow or a bright yellow or whatever you might think is a more severe yellow than yellow. (Some of you will joke that this level on the scale should be maize.) But he is a step beyond yellow.

With Naquan Jones' recruitment, I would move it up to an orange. Not sure when the orange will completely ripen. He still wants to take a look at Florida, due to the Gators' recent offer. His interest in visiting Florida could wane as the shine of the new offer wears off. MSU is in very strong shape with Jones and MSU is not pressing the issue for a commitment. Jones appreciates that. We'll put it at orange.

[We won't have a player chart with the color codes listed officially. I would prefer this to be more of a speakeasy system.]
