Kelly coached ND from 2010 to 2021. I went back and looked at his recruiting classes over those years and was pretty surprised. Kelly only had three top ten classes. Granted, his lowest class was ranked 22nd, so it's not like he was without talent. Then I looked back at LSU's recruiting classes over the same timeframe. Ten out of the twelve were top ten which included five in the top five.
I honestly thought ND recruited better than that, and quite frankly, I was surprised LSU's classes were so consistently strong.
I can see why LSU fan expects to compete for national championships every year (and trust me, they do) and why they go insane with their team loses 3+, which it does quite often.
