It is fine for the Dreamteam to shoot for a top 10 class, but should we temper our expectations?

For all of the talk about having a top 10 class, let's look at what it took last year for a team to have a top 10 class. Take a look at Ohio State's recruits. They were the number 9 class. For a look at what a top 15 class looked like, take a look at Penn State. They were 15th with 11 four star recruits. Most of the top classes 10 had multiple 5 star recruits.

I think it is great for deWeaver and Chambers to shoot for a top 10 class, but personally, if we address our positional recruiting needs, finish in the 16-18 range and have a higher per recruit average than the 3.35 we had last year, I will be happy, even if we are not in the top 10, or even the top 15. It is still progress and that usually happens incrementally.

Here is a look at last year's top 22:

#1 USC 26 4 17 5 3.96 3193
#2 Alabama 24 4 15 5 3.96 3034
#3 Florida State 20 5 10 5 4 2750
#4 Clemson 23 3 9 10 3.61 2703
#5 Tennessee 29 4 13 11 3.69 2647
#6 Georgia 29 2 11 14 3.45 2620
#7 Auburn 27 2 16 8 3.7 2569
#8 LSU 25 4 8 8 3.44 2538
#9 Ohio State 27 0 14 12 3.48 2528
#10 Texas A&M 25 1 11 10 3.4 2478
#11 Notre Dame 24 0 13 11 3.54 2423
#12 Texas 29 1 14 12 3.48 2383
