The Texans waived DJ Swearinger, their starting Free Safety last year. Swearinger was a hard hitter and a big play guy, but Romeo Crennel didn't like that he was often out of position and got burned too often. Their other starter from last year is also gone (Kendrick Lewis), but they signed Rahim Moore from the Broncos as his replacement.

There is no obvious choice to replace Swearinger, and there are some young guys and free agents that will compete. Stevie Brown (former NY Giant)and Eddie Pleasant (3rd year guy, hasn't played much) are the apparent top contenders.

Bottom line - if Drummond shows well in camp, his chances to make the team just went up substantially. And if he really performs well, there is a possible starting spot open.
