Give Iowa credit for pulling off a miracle. But that’s exactly what is was. MSU didn’t choke. MSU hit 12 of their last 14 FTs. For the most part, broke the press. OK they did turn it over once legitimately. But the travel call on Hall was ridiculous. Also, 4 different players hit threes , and a couple were pretty well covered. So give them credit for pulling off the “Miracle on Court”.
It actually appeared MSU was going into pullback mode, not trying to run up the score. The game was over. But then Iowa went to that press, and MSU had to reset. If we had just continued to keep pressure on Iowa forcing them to use more time to get up the court, Iowa never gets close to the number of possessions needed to tie the score. even that last FT should have had us setup to rebound. Those coaching errors cost MSU the game, not the players. That’s why the game was lost.
Izzo is a HOF coach, and learned a painful lesson today. It won’t happen again. He will lead this team to a huge run.
