I love that man. And I will fight tooth and nail for a statue, a building or something to be done in his honor, someday.

But for today, fellow Maggers, I'm interested in your thoughts on the following:

I contend that his attitude, his words, his actions, his team's on-field performance, etc. permanently changed the mindset of both MSU and UM folks about this rivalry.

  • And I'm not sure there is anything a Coach could have done, at that time to provide the kind of emotional, psychological boost the program needed to wake up it's proud history.
  • Dantonio led the MSU football program to become what intelligent, thoughtful UM folks alwasy feared it could be.

Thoughts?

And just for an enjoyable stroll down memory lane, some doozies from CMD:

  • "They want to mock us. I'm telling them it's not over. They want to print that crap all over their locker room, it's not over. It'll never be over. It's just starting."

  • "I find a lot of the things they do amusing. They need to check themselves sometimes. Let's just remember that pride comes before the fall."

  • "We're laying in the weeds. We've beaten Michigan the last four years. Where's the threat?"

  • "You don't have to disrespect people. If they want to make a mockery of it, so be it. Their time will come."

  • “You can only be diplomatic for so long. Look, it doesn’t come from the coach; it comes from the program. You do that stuff and it gets shoved … it gets shoved up … it got shoved in the last minute and a half.”

And I've probably missed many, many more.
