Ohio State is the only other team besides Michigan's 1997 1/2 national championship to win a national championship in the modern era of college football. In fact, I think MSU is the only other Big Ten team to win a national championship (or at least be voted national champions) since the 1950s. Does Michigan winning the natty elevate the conference and will it ultimately and indirectly help MSU? I hate Michigan more than anything and am sickened that they are this successful but there's no denying the positives of them winning a national championship. The SEC has dominated college football for decades and it was actually somewhat satisfying to see Alabama get beaten so soundly, although if it wasn't going to be us then I would have preferred it to be the Buckeyes.
