"The purity is gone," said Northern Iowa coach Mark Farley, who sent 41 players to the NFL and spent 23 years at Northern Iowa. He is retiring at age 61 because he feels the game has changed. He doesn't want to deal with NIL, transfers, etc.

Farley sent 41 players to the NFL and currently has an 181-104 record from 2001 to 2024.
