The three-star defensive tackle from Springfield, Ohio has announced a final three of Kentucky, Wisconsin and Purdue. He dropped MSU a couple of weeks ago.

I asked him if MSU had backed off on its communication with him or if MSU had kept things constant through the process. He tweet messaged me, "They communicated in every aspect and all but idk."

(idk means I don't know)

Which I take to mean that MSU tried, but he just wasn't feeling MSU as much as the others. I can respect that.

I don't remember Purdue ever recruiting this well. Maybe in the year or two after Drew Brees, they recruited well (MSU losing out to Purdue for Stu Schweigert, and A.T. WhatsHisName, a former wide receiver). But it's hard to recall a time when Purdue was getting a four-star here and there, and edging out MSU as a finalist for an Ohio player like Gibson.
